Okay, Wednesday was a gorgeous day at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The sun was shining, very few clouds, warm...my kind of day. Harry had made arrangements through Low Country Nature Tours for us to go on a dolphin tour. We tried to do this back in September for my birthday, but it was too windy to go. We were all really excited. The closest we've ever been to dolphins was in Sea World about six years ago. We got to feed them, but they were tame and these would be wild dolphins. We met Ryan our tour captain at 12:00 pm. We were the onl
y ones on the boat...how exciting! So, we set out looking at all the beautiful marshes and other wildlife along Broad Creek. It was beautiful! It was a two hour boat tour and we did get to see some dolphins. Ryan told us that a couple of the dolphins even have names because they stay in the same area all season long swimming up and down the river. Harrison was more interested in the multi-million dollar yachts and homes all up an down the coast. We also came upon an island that is privately owned by a billionaire. We all wondered what it would be like to live on your own island. Harry, of course, mused that the DirectTv guy was probably pretty popular on the private islands since cable was an impossibility. We ate lunch on the boat...we had packed a picnic...and then started heading back to the resort. It was so much fun and worth every penny.After we got back from the boat tour, we attempted to go to the beach. Yeah, that didn't work so well. It was
about 10ยบ cooler on the beach than inland. Harry and I rented an umbrella and some chairs and froze while the kids pretended to swim in the Atlantic. It last all of maybe and hour before we had enough and went back to the pool. Then, Hannah had to get cleaned up and her and I went to a character pillow making class. They were so cute and easy to make...no sewing involved at all. Hannah loved it. Later, Harrison went to a Teens' Night activity. The cast members took them to the Putt-Putt golf place in town. He said he a lot of fun. Back at the condo, Harry, Hannah, and I ate baked s'mores (if you want the recipe, email me) and watched the Shaggy Dog. They had free 2-day movie rentals from the Mercantile on property.

en Kayaking trip and had a BLAST!!! They Kayaked in Broad Creek and then came back and ate pizza for lunch. Harry, Hannah, I went to eat lunch at a place called Harold's Diner. They had the best burgers, onion rings, and fries there. The best I've had in a while--YUM-O! It reminded me of a combination of Cafe Pig and the Soup Nazi place on "Seinfeld." It is a REALLY small place and the line can get kind of long during the rush. So, they have a sign of "Rules." One of the rules is "When you're done, leave! This isn't Starbucks!" Harry and I just cracked up. We went back to the resort and after Harrison came back and got cleaned up, we took Hannah to Kids' Night Out: Kids' Challenge at the Community Hall. The split the kids into two teams and they had to run through all sorts of Survivor-type challenges. Then, they had pizza and soda. She LOVED it! Harrison, Harry, and I walked over to a restaurant that was supposed to be an okay place to eat...it wasn't! It's called Scott's Fish Market and it was HORRIBLE--the service, the food, the singer, EVERYTHING! So, after paying the not-worth-it $52 bill (and not leaving a tip...I don't usually do this, but the service was THAT bad and they left something on our bill that should have been taken off), Harry and Harrison went to a little hole-in-the-wall seafood place called The Sea Shack. It was featured on $40 a day with Rachael Ray on FoodNetwork. I don't go in there as it is extremely crowded, loud, confusing, and gives me an anxiety attack just thinking about it. So, they got their food to go. They have really good, homemade Keylime Pie.
