New Carpet and Hardwood--YEAH!

We've had the same carpet in the house since we moved in 8 1/2 years ago. It was time to get new carpet. We didn't realize what a HUGE job getting ready for the carpet was going to be. It was a LOT of work. The jobs were divided into two days. Friday was new vinyl (in the Master Bathroom) and new carpet; and Saturday was the new hardwood (the office, landing, foyer, 1/2 bath, and hallway leading to the Living Room. The first day, basically, everything we own was either in the garage, the Kitchen, or on the back porch. Thank heavens for good weather! Luckily, the kids were in school. The animals on the other hand, were a little freaked out with all the pounding, ripping, etc... Our very large cat, Stormy, got so upset that she wedged herself in between the washer/dryer and the wall and got stuck for a little while. She was not a happy camper. We eventually got her un-stuck, but she was quite skittish for a while. Maggie, our Golden Retriever, was not too happy about spending the two day period of time in her kennel, either. And, the guinea pig, Oreo, would squeal in response to the circular saw cutting the quarter round for the base boards. It was quite the experience for everyone.

After all is said and done, we are very glad we did it and that it is over with. It is going to take quite a while to recover, though. I've told everyone that not everything in the garage is coming back into the house. So everything is being brought in one box at a time. We are going through everything and purging things we don't need or use any longer. So, this is what our Living Room looks like for now. Oh and there is one more new rule...there is to be NO FOOD OUTSIDE OF THE KITCHEN EVER AGAIN!!! The kids thought that was a bit rash and unfair. But after seeing the backside of our other carpet and how many stains there were from "mysterious" spills of "unknown" origins, I feel it is quite fair.
