Update on Shadow

I know I'm writing about our new dog, Shadow, a lot lately, but he's growing and changing so quickly. He will be 4 months old on May 10th. He went to the vet today (his last appointment was only 3 weeks ago) and he weighs 35 pounds--he gained 10 pounds in just 3 weeks! I knew he was getting big, but I didn't realize he was THAT big. To put it into perspective, Maggie, our 8 year old Golden, is only 48 pounds. So, if he keeps going at the rate he's going, he'll be as big as our adult, full-grown Golden in less than a month and at only 4 months.

He has a few accomplishments that we can speak of:

• He sleeps through the night (He has about 2-3 naps a day, but usually goes down for the night about 11:00 pm and wakes up promptly between 6:30 & 7:00 am EVERY day).



• He knows how to sit and lay down.



• He knows what the command "Nice" means (to take a treat politely and not take the treat and your finger along with it).



• He knows and follows the command, "Kennel up." Which means for him to go and get into his kennel.



• He also has another trick he does. We have a set of bells on our front door (to let me know when someone is coming or going out the door). So, when he wants to go outside, he goes to the front door and rings the bells. We didn't teach him this, it's just something he does.



• He has also lost 3 baby teeth. Harry commented that he wasn't playing tooth fairy to the darn dog :c).

All in all, he's doing MUCH better. He's adjusting to our family and how we do things; and we love him.
