Scout Camp

Harrison just returned from Scout camp on Saturday. He had a great time! (Scary picture...I know) The camp was a Regional LDS Scout Camp at Scoutland Boy Scout Camp on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, GA. Troop 137 (Sharpsburg Ward), Troop 208 (Peachtree City Ward), and Troop 151 (Moreland Branch) all went together. They were in campsite #36. Harrison commented about how good it was to see the guys from Troop 208 again. And, everyone got along really well and had a wonderful time. Harrison took five different merit badge classes: Basketry, Leatherwork, Swimming, Rowing, and Canoeing. Canoeing was just for fun, though, he already had that badge. Swimming is a badge that is required to get to the Eagle Scout rank. Harrison hasn't been so keen on the water the last few years--let alone a lake. So, it was a big deal for him to finally earn this merit badge. We are really proud of him.

They have permanent "tents" there to sleep in, but Harrison and Gabe Pulsipher decided to pitch their own tent. Apparently, Gabe was so tired on Monday night that he fell asleep while sitting up. Harrison and some of the other guys hung a lightstick from the bill of Gabe's hat and took this picture.

They had quite a few "gadgets" around camp. They had a balancing table a la National Treasure II; a rope bridge (a monkey bridge); and a clothes drying system. The clothes dryer had a rock on the end; and when the clothes were dry, the rock raised up off the ground. Pretty ingenious, huh?

There were also plenty of injuries and maladies during camp, too. Harrison got sunburned and fell down and scratched his neck; and Brady Coles got a really bad case of poison something (ivy, oak, sumac...something). And, Sam Pulsipher learned why we don't wear wet socks. Oh, the fun of camp!
